Description
Despite the well-established role of CO₂ in climate change, significant uncertainties remain regarding the impacts of non-CO₂ radiative forcers, including aerosols, methane, and tropospheric ozone, due to their complex atmospheric interactions and strong regional variability. This presentation assesses the climate and air quality effects of these non-CO₂ radiative forcers using high-resolution regional climate simulations with the RegCM5-Chem model, which couples the atmospheric chemistry and its feedback on the climate system. Simulations were performed for mid-century conditions under two future climate scenarios, driven by the EC-Earth3-AerChem global climate model. The results suggest that ambitious emission reduction policies can bring substantial air-quality benefits.
